From residential to commercial — village halls, schools, pubs, shops, restaurants and churches. Small jobs through to around 500 square metres. On commercial work we use a hard-wearing two-pack polyurethane lacquer.

Dustless sanding with Lagler and Bona machinery, hard-wearing lacquers through to oils, and wood floors supplied and installed.
Sanding & restoration
Sanding wooden flooring with the latest dustless machinery. Victorian boards, parquet, herringbone, solid and engineered — as long as it’s wood, we can sand it.
Floor finishes
Hard-wearing polyurethane lacquers through to oils and hard wax oils. Bona, Junckers, Loba and Osmo, put on at the correct application rates.
Supply & installation
All types of wood floor supplied and installed, including solid, engineered and laminate.

Sand, finish, clean down
We sand and apply the finish, then vacuum and wipe down the room — including dust that was there before we arrived.
Finishes
Lacquer, oil and hard wax oil
Polyurethane lacquers in matt or satin are the most popular finish we do — durable and low maintenance. They form a protective layer on top of the floor. Oils and waxes enhance the grain and give a more natural look; hard wax oils give the look of an oiled floor with a lot more durability.
We only use leading brands — Bona, Junckers, Loba and Osmo — put on at the correct application rates. Where colour matters we can try sample areas on your own boards.
Matt lacquer
Hardest wearing. Matt or satin — the usual choice for busy rooms and halls.
Satin lacquer
A little more light back. Popular on commercial floors.
Oil
Enhances the grain. Very matt, a nice feel, needs a bit more maintenance.
Hard-wax oil
The look of an oiled floor with a lot more durability. Areas can be repaired more easily than lacquer.

We can give you a rough idea of cost over the phone or email. A written quote comes after we’ve seen the floor, or you’ve sent photos and measurements.
Questions we get asked
Lagler and Bona machines with a DCS70 take out around 98% of it — much better than a hired machine. We then vacuum and wipe down the room, including dust that was there before we arrived.
Usually, if the wear layer is thick enough. Send a photo of a cut edge or threshold and we’ll tell you.
We’ll put that on the quote. Light use is often possible the next day; rugs and heavy furniture wait longer while the finish cures.
An empty room is quickest. If that isn’t possible, tell us and we can work in sections.

SandSkill has been based in Suffolk since 2002. It’s a father-and-son business — Rich and Jack Ferris. A Suffolk born-and-bred company, not a franchise. We sand, restore and finish wooden floors, along with supply and installation of hardwoods, laminate and LVT.
Since 2002 we’ve built a good base of returning customers and referrals. We’re proud to say that 90% of our work comes from customer recommendations. We use Lagler and Bona machines with a Bona DCS70, and finish with Bona, Junckers, Loba and Osmo.
